Pre-Med Programs

Our Pre-Med programs in Nepal are ideal for individuals looking to add an international medical component to their resume, in an effort to gain acceptance into a graduate program, or further enhance their medical training & exposure.

For a significant number of Nepali people, it is very difficult to receive proper healthcare. Many of the state’s health centers—established to provide services in rural areas—are inadequately staffed. We are looking for compassionate pre-med participants to help alleviate this problem, in an effort to improve the quality of health care for disadvantaged Nepali people.

Program & Placement Opportunities

Participants have an opportunity to assist local doctors and medical staffs in the treatment of patients, in addition to exposure to hospital programs in a variety of fields, including patient record keeping, sanitation, nutrition, or treatment of minor injuries.

Our Pre-Med program in Nepal offers doctors, nurses, and medical school students in hospitals and clinics throughout Nepal. We have standing requests from local facilities for Internists, Urologists, Surgeons, Oncologists, Ophthalmologists, Nurses, and Dentists. Participants have the option of working in either an urban or rural setting.

As a Pre-Med participant, you will participate in a wide range of activities, including but not limited to:

·         accompanying doctors on rounds

·         exposure to a variety of treatments for simple ailments

·         provide physical therapy

·         assist with vaccination programs

Depending on the timing of your visit, you will have the opportunity to visit large general hospitals, maternity clinics, children's hospitals, HIV/AIDS wards, and alternative-medicine clinics. Your visit will be given some context by local doctors and nurses who will discuss issues such as typical illnesses/treatments and the general state of health care in Nepal.

If you do not see an opportunity above that interests you, just let us know what medical practice you are most interested in gaining exposure to and we will work to find a placement that suits you perfectly!
