Weeks 2 & 3 - Community/Group Volunteering:

Our Community/Group Volunteering Program is a fantastic opportunity to be a responsible traveler and make a positive contribution during your stay. There are no specific qualifications needed, all it takes is an eagerness to learn, share your skills and an open mind!

You will work with a small group (5 or less per group) of international volunteers on a socially relevant volunteering project together with local people. Volunteers should have a strong level of conversational English and although prior experience in teaching is highly appreciated, it is not necessary. If you opt for a teaching project, the most important thing is that you have to enjoy spending time surrounded by children!

Project Options:

  • Teaching at Rural Schools
  • Rehabilitation & Follow Up Projects for Earthquake Victims
  • Assisting in renovation & construction of small scale infrastructure at local communities.

Even though you may only work for a few weeks, your contribution will make a very positive impact!

Sample Project Schedule

Monday-Saturday
In the morning from 8am onwards until early afternoon, you will work in the project or at the school. Lunch will be provided at the place of work. We will provide all teaching materials and curriculum needed, and any creative ideas to improve or make teaching more fun are welcome.

Week 4 – Beach Week at Karimunjawa Island:

During this week you will experience the serenity and spectacular sights of the Karimunjawa – an island chain stretching in a northwesterly direction 83km from Jepara, Central Java.  This archipelago is a cluster of 27 islands in the Java Sea.  The reefs are a mixture of fringing, barrier, and patch with bottom depths ranging from 15 to 40 meters.  This is the perfect time for you to relax and enjoy some of your favorite water sports.
