In Buenos Aires, it is against the law for pre-med students to have physical contact with patients in public/government hospitals, however, our participants may work in the hospital to observe the system and/or shadow doctors in specific practices.
Participants preferring to be more interactive with patients may be placed in a private hospital belonging to a private university. As rules differ in a private hospital, students are granted special tasks.
Shadowing - Participants may choose to shadow a Physiotherapist at a public hospital where they will actually share her schedule; observing, taking notes, asking questions, etc..
Field Work - Additional opportunities are available for participants to work with a medical organization whose objective is to give medical information (prevention), vaccinations, etc…to isolated people living in the mountains, or poor small towns, where there is no water, electricity or access to medical services or information. They travel once per month to the villages, and there is also work to do in their offices in BsAs. An amazing experience!
