In Buenos Aires, it is against the law for pre-med students to have physical contact with patients in public/government hospitals, however, our participants may work in the hospital to observe the system and/or shadow doctors in specific practices.

Participants preferring to be more interactive with patients may be placed in a private hospital belonging to a private university.  As rules differ in a private hospital, students are granted special tasks.

Shadowing - Participants may choose to shadow a Physiotherapist at a public hospital where they will actually share her schedule; observing, taking notes, asking questions, etc..

Field Work - Additional opportunities are available for participants to work with a medical organization whose objective is to give medical information (prevention), vaccinations, etc…to isolated people living in the mountains, or poor small towns, where there is no water, electricity or access to medical services or information.  They travel once per month to the villages, and there is also work to do in their offices in BsAs.  An amazing experience!

Our Pre-Med programs in Buenos Aires are ideal for individuals looking to add an international medical component to their resume, in an effort to gain acceptance into a graduate program, or further enhance their medical training & exposure.  Our Pre-Med programs in Argentina offer shadowing and field work experiences in a wide variety of medical arenas.

Following are examples of opportunities available;

If your interest is helping children, you may enjoy spending one day per week assisting a very established non-profit organization.  Participants visit children who are ill and help cheer them up so that they are not so sad & lonely.  They celebrate their birthdays, provide them with items their parents are unable to afford, they play games, talk to them and help to cheer them up.  Although this opportunity may not be a typical “medical” experience, it is very interactive and enables interns to learn more about the systems while being helpful and making a difference in a young child’s life.

Participants may combine any of the above options in order to achieve a greater perspective of medicine and further enrich their experience.

If you do not see an opportunity above that interests you, just let us know what medical practice you are most interested in gaining exposure to and we will work to find a placement that suits you perfectly!
